First we came and then calmly sat down and had a singing session. I sang the first song and 2 other friends of mine sang another song. We all had noticed that my song was more bright than the second song. The teacher had also noticed this and had an open discussion on why their song was dull. We had learnt that enthusiasm was not there in the second song rather than my song. Then he pointed at the followers and said that they didn't do a great job either. Then he said his most important point by saying a beautiful quote which I will remember for the rest of my life. He said "Follow the leaders....and Lead the followers." This quote seriously inspired me and had me thinking.
The next thing that we did was having a parent session where all the parents would talk about their concerns of their child. One mother of a friend who happened to be sick that day complained that her son played way too much video games. In my mind I had a response to her problem that I was thinking in my mind. Here was my response.
These days kids blindly get attached to material things. When I was in 7th grade i got attached to a game that was for my PS3. My dad had been noticing that and one day when I came home from school, i noticed my PS3 and that game was missing. When I asked my dad he challenged me saying I had to stay one full week without playing any video games. At first I thought that is so impossible but then throughout the week I found other things to do like read books or work on school homework more. By the end of the week I figured out that I don't need to play video games anymore. I realized that the game which I used to love was completely useless and while my friends wasted their precious time, I spent that time doing quality things.
That is all that I had learnt today even though it is probably more than I will ever learn in a whole week!!
